The Department of Orthopedics has an opening for a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Education Lead (Academic Services Principal Professional) position.

Job Summary:

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level.

Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.

Position Emphasis:

The Department of Orthopedics is currently seeking applications for an Education Lead. This full-time, University Staff position, under direction from the Department of Orthopedics Director of Finance and Administration, is primarily responsible for the management of the Department of Orthopedics Education Program and primary resident support. The Education Lead encompasses the residency and fellowship recruitment process, training programs and conferences including curriculum, schedules, business activities, finances, budget and policies and procedures. The Education Lead provides essential communication and networking for the effective functioning of a major surgical residency and fellowship training program. The Education Lead represents the Education Program on behalf of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office, the Department of Orthopedics, the School of Medicine, and the University of Colorado.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position has been established at $47,165 - $61,786 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience, which includes:
    • Directly planning and organizing large training program needs and activities.
    • Managing computer programs such as ERAS, OnCall, New Innovations or similar programs.
    • Experience with the development/management of basic budgets.

Substitution: A combination of education and direct program coordinator experience within Graduate Medical Education (GME) and ACGME experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience working in graduate medical education.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in higher education.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with medical school programs or in a health sciences center setting.
