Job Description

A postdoctoral position is immediately available for a candidate to work on molecular mosquito-arbovirus interactions in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Franz, Dept. of Veterinary Pathobiology at the University of Missouri (vpbio.missouri.edu). The position is for a collaborative, NIH-funded research project (up to 4 years) to develop antiviral effectors and a gene drive system for the mosquito Aedes aegypti. The research work at the University of Missouri focuses mainly on molecular genetics / entomology and also encompasses work with arboviruses.

Qualifications

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow who has solid experience with molecular biological laboratory techniques (including transgenic organisms, CRISPR/Cas9) and holds a Ph.D. in entomology, vector biology, or molecular genetics. The candidate should be highly motivated with a keen interest to develop and pursue innovative approaches to address this exciting research topic. Fully equipped laboratories (BSL2 and BSL3), insectaries, and excellent on-campus core facilities are available to conduct these studies.
