Job Description

Summary

Business Administrator I, under general supervision, manages the full range of business activities including reviewing and approving business documents and developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts, budgets and other quantitative data.

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary officer and approver of all collections activity. Reviews and audits account reconciliations of related accounts. Assists with the management of financial transactions. Develops, monitors and controls all collection activity. Prepares complex monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors programs or services. Develops and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Serves as primary administrator of student refund activities, including preparation of reports. Submits, audits and voids refunds as needed.
  • Oversees annual account write-off activities. Proposes solutions on complex financial problems. Prepares and analyzes business reports related to write-offs, refunds, and collections.
  • May audit and prepare deposits for cash handling activities. Serves as liaison with financial aid, information technology, payroll, and human resources units. Interprets System policies and regulations and University rules. Develops complex administrative, financial, and statistical analyses and summary reports. Composes standard and ad hoc reports and business-related correspondence.
  • Manages maintenance of various business files.
  • May oversee the administration of certain TouchNet programs.
  • Serves as office manager delegate. Implements and audits business procedure and trains staff on new and existing procedures. Establishes, implements and audits unit procedures for special activities and programs. Assists in special investigations, program analysis, and research studies.
  • May manage personnel activities including coordination and audit of personnel files, and reviews and approves leave requests.
  • Participates in the hiring and training of subordinate business staff and student workers. May supervise staff and resolves staff conflicts.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field and five years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.


KSAs
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong typing, data entry, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service.
