Responsibilities

Attending project training for each position and passing assessment-related evaluations is required. Coordination with other project staff and classroom teachers is also required. Hires may be working in one or more of the following capacities as determined by skillset & education level:

- Observers must learn and reach fidelity on an observation instrument and will then conduct classroom and small group observations intermittently during the 2018-2019 school year.

- Assessors will administer several individual language and cognitive development assessments to Pre-K and Kindergarten children which include standardized assessments and computer-based assessments during regular school hours.

Qualifications

High school diploma.

Experience in early childhood and/or elementary educational settings; this can include classroom teaching, tutoring, or other related experience.

Applicants must be completely fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Applicants must be able to follow directions and pay attention to details, work independently, and communicate effectively with a diverse population.

Other key attributes include the following:

- Solid decision-making abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and work as a team member

Must have a valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation capable of transporting project materials on a daily basis.

Must have reliable means of communicating through email.

Must be available to work Monday through Friday.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Special Education or other related field is preferred, as is experience in teaching/tutoring and test administration.

Background knowledge in early literacy and/or elementary school reading is ideal.

Other Information

Florida State University is seeking Assessors and Observers for a study in Miami-Dade County and in Broward County. The duration of the position will be approximately August 2018 through May 2019. The primary location of work will be in local participating Pre-K centers and schools within the county applicants are hired to work in with occasional travel to the Miami office

Anticipated Salary Range

Hourly rate depends upon position, education, and experience and will start at $13.00.

Pay Plan

This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Soft Money Funded Position

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

Position to include approximately 15-25 hours/week for specific weeks during the 2018-2019 school year. Most hours will be in the morning: 8:30 am -1:00 pm. Hours will vary from week to week. There are some weeks when no hours are available, for example, winter break.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
