Position Summary: Under supervision of the Ambulatory Practice Manager and Admit Worker Supervisor the incumbent's responsibility would include but are not limited to obtaining authorizations for surgery. The incumbent is responsible for scheduling surgeries, obtains insurance authorizations and obtains medical clearance based on medical center policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include problem solving and making sure that customer service for preoperative appointments, scheduled surgeries and post operative appointments are optimal. Ensures that provides operative schedules are scheduled with optimal utilization of medical center resources. Ensures patients are scheduled according to the department‘s policies and procedures. Verifies patient eligibility, submitting for authorizations, and following through to ensure all visits and surgeries are approved. All messages are responded to within department guidelines. The incumbent maintains flexibility to perform other essential functions. Actively participates in the department‘s continuous quality improvement, maintains departmental reports and participates in departmental Project Improvement (PI) projects. The incumbent is able to resolve the more complex or unusual situations requiring broad based knowledge of the Ambulatory Care Practice.
