Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Preferred specialization in Biology, Environmental Studies, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related discipline.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Candidate must possess a strong foundation in the principles and concepts of plant sciences. Candidate must be familiar with working with field-based research plots as well as laboratory based experimentation. Knowledge and experience in field-based research is highly desired, and demonstrated experience managing students. At least two years of research expeirience preferred.
License or certificate:
The Research Specialist provides technical assistance in the research lab of Dr. Erin Silva in the Department of Plant Pathology. He/she implements research techniques as directed to carry out, under supervision, components of research projects. He/she must provide his/her own transportation or have a valid driver's license to carry out duties of the position. The Research Specialist must be a good communicator, be self-motivated, and have a positive attitude towards teamwork.
