The Chemistry department is one of the largest in Texas and offers comprehensive graduate degrees, with research and training opportunities in all of the traditional areas of chemistry (inorganic, organic, physical and analytical), and a wide range of sub disciplines including computational chemistry, organometallic chemistry, chemical biology, and materials science

Job Description
The Chemistry Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Sr Administrative Specialist to join our team. The Sr Administrative Specialist will provide administrative services to the Undergraduate and Graduate Advisors within the department. This position will maintain graduate student files, including preparation of degree plans and new applicant files, and aid with with both undergraduate and graduate advising. This position will be responsible for graduate student recruitment with occasional overnight travel, as well as coordination of Undergraduate Affairs and Graduate Affairs Committee meetings and activities.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Recruiting graduate students to the department through contacts, participation in on- and off-campus recruiting events and recruiting visits to regional and national meetings.
* Monitoring graduate student progress to ensure timely student progress through the program.
* Processing the Department and University forms for degrees and financial support.
* Preparing report for accrediting agencies for the university and for degree programs, including SACS reports.
* Preparing and submitting documents for additions and changes to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
* Compile information on nominees for departmental and university awards, and other local and/or national scholarships.
* Coordinate prospective graduate student campus visits.
* Aid Graduate Advisor in assigning and reporting of departmental graduate student assistantships.
* Coordinate and oversee Orientation Week and other events for new graduate students.
* Maintain departmental student services email and social media accounts and keep students aware of career, training, scholarship and course opportunities.
* Maintain Faculty and Graduate Student pictorial directory.
* Assist with graduate and undergraduate student registration.
* Coordinate marketing/recruiting, admissions, and program planning for externally funded undergraduate research programs, including REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) programs.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Exceptional customer service skills.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
* Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
* Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
* Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
* Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
* Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
* Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
* Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
* Supervisory skills.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Previous experience with student recruiting.
* Must be computer proficient - experience with Microsoft, Excel, Adobe, and Photoshop.
* Experience with graduate admissions, enrollment and UNT systems preferred.
* Must be able to travel with occasional overnights and must be able to lift 20 pounds.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with students.
