Job Summary

Full-Time, twelve-month position available for an Assistant Supervisor with strong skills in staff management and customer service in the hospitality industry. Problem solving and team building skills are highly valued as well as the ability to communicate effectively. Dining Services is a seven day a week operations and scheduled hours will vary to include nights, weekends and late nights.

Under the general directions of the Assistant Director and the Supervisor of Dining Operations, this position provides support for the successful operations of Dining Services. The Assistant Supervisor trains and manages 15-20 full-time union employees and three dozen student employees. This position is responsible for managing food preparation to ensure timeliness of all meals and sanitation and safety standards are exceeded. Coordination between front and back of the house at catering events is required. Responsible for overseeing Skidmore College late night programs. The Assistant Supervisor oversees all employees in every area to ensure satisfactory completion of assigned duties. They ensure that customer satisfaction, food quality, exceptional service and financial goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree in either Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or Business with three years of experience in food service operations and a minimum of two years of food service management experience.

OR

High School Diploma with five years experience in food service operations with a minimum of three years of food management experience in a high-volume food service operations.

Preferred Qualifications

College/Food Service Management experience preferred.
