Job description

Under the supervision of the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration (ADFA), works closely with the Dean, college leadership, and the Provost Budget office to provide oversight and management of the fiscal activities of the College of Design's annual operating budget of $5.8M and its $6.1M endowment portfolio, and is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the CoD's Centralized Business Office. The ADFA serves as a key member of the college's leadership team, advisor to the Dean and college leadership, and plays an active role in strategic planning. The preferred candidate must be able to perform under challenging circumstances and tight deadlines, be a self-starter, critical thinker, and have strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to learn new tasks quickly. The CoD is expanding its programs to include degrees in Urban Design and Product Design, as well as a number of online course offerings. The ADFA will be directly involved in strategic planning for these initiatives, including forecasting tuition revenue and developing hiring plans in support of the College's mission.

Physical Requirements

Sitting for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer terminal.


Mostly weekdays, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with evenings and weekends as necessary to meet deadlines.


Strong budgeting and accounting skills, solid awareness of relevant UK policies and procedures, excellent communication and leadership skills, SAP & Microsoft Suite skills.

Preferred Education/Experience

Prefer a degree in accounting, finance or business and related experience in an academic institution.

Drivers license preferred.
