Posting Summary

Provide administrative office and operational support and records maintenance for administrative areas in the department, with supervision from the Department Chair and functional supervision from Department Administrative Coordinator. Serve as first contact for incoming calls. Provide reception for all departmental guests and students based on a comprehensive knowledge of the university's policies and procedures. Assist faculty and graduate teaching assistants on a daily basis with operational needs. Monitor department inventories. Update student records in Banner.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Associate's degree with one to three years of related experience, working knowledge of software applications used to support office functions, and familiarity with Internet resources required. Experience with data-bases, mail-merge, spreadsheets required. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Desirable Qualifications

Previous office experience, preferably in an academic setting, desired.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The Department of English in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking an Administrative Assistant. Please note this position is ongoing but has an annual 10-month term. Term dates are August 16 through June 15.
