Responsibilities

Act as a first point of contact to patients that walk in or call to schedule an appointment. Responsible for prioritizing and scheduling appointments for patients with a provider or nurse within one of the University Health Services clinics using standard protocols and a computerized scheduling system. Maintain communication with Triage department regarding unscheduled patients that appear to need care prior to the first available appointment.

Responsible for screening incoming phone calls, answering routine questions and forwarding inquires to the appropriate departments. Provide excellent customer service to all face to face customers and/or callers. Provide information and support to FSU students and dependents regarding available healthcare services. Direct patients to appropriate departments/offices to facilitate problem resolution regarding fees, insurance, compliance immunizations, questions for providers, etc. Direct patient to other services such as triage, allergy, physical therapy, health promotion services and specialty clinics as appropriate.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience.

(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.)

Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and personal computer skills.

Must be able to multitask, be detail oriented and handle high phone and walk-in traffic volume and work with frequent interruptions.

Position requires post hiring PPD (TB) test and OSHA training.

Preferred

Previous medical office experience and experience with Electronic Medical Records.

This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
