Position Summary

The School of Journalism at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions in journalism and mass media. These are part-time positions.  Primary responsibilities will be teaching either online or campus classes. 

Responsibilities will include some combination of the following: teaching a course or courses in journalism and media that students can apply in careers in news media and other industries. 

Position’s rank will be at the level of Lecturer, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. Appointment will be for one semester beginning fall 2018.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Interested candidates should apply via the MSU job application website at http://www.careers.msu.edu/.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Journalism and Mass Communication or related area

Minimum Requirements

Degree requirements differ depending on rank. Professional experience in journalism and mass communication or related area; commitment to working as part of a team; and excellent communication and leadership skills. 

Desired Qualifications

Teaching experience is desired.
