Educational and Experience Requirement

Associates Degree in Art or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. Art gallery experience preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs complex administrative assistant duties in the art galleries for the Department of Art.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs complex administrative assistant duties. Provides departmental or university information to students, departments, and staff. Assists with the operations of the Department of Art Galleries on and off campus. Assists with scheduling and promoting exhibitions and other gallery events, documents exhibitions and events, maintains gallery webpages, develops and distributes other promotional materials. Schedules and oversees student interns, provides training in art handling and installation techniques, packing and shipping of artwork. Communicates with and assists the Department of Art Gallery committee, Department Chair, and Department staff as needed. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Represents the Department of Art at community meetings related to the Galleries and Department events. Reviews, revises, and interprets policies and procedures. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports. Attends meetings and takes notes. Prepares, reviews, revises and distributes documents and correspondence. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of art gallery procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Attention required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self or others.

This is a part-time (30 hours per week) benefits eligible position.
