Position Summary: The Kenan-Flagler Business School, located at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a top 20 ranked professional business school. Kenan-Flagler offers a range of professional and academic degree programs, including an undergraduate degree in Business (BSBA); an MBA program delivered in five different methods (full-time, evening, weekend, on-line, global); a dual degree program with Tsinghua University; a Master of Accounting (MAC) degree delivered in two different methods (full-time and on-line); and a PhD program. As a member of the Curriculum and Learning team, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for providing technical consultation, design, and development assistance to faculty and teaching staff across the Kenan-Flagler Business School. They will assist in the application of design thinking and the use of instructional technology tools in the delivery of online and blended instruction for multiple degree programs. This position will directly support faculty and teaching staff in creating and designing instructional materials and instructional strategies while incorporating best practices and sound pedagogy. They will assist faculty and teaching staff in course development needs for the Learning Management System, rich media, mobile and web-based assessment systems, distance collaboration, and related technological teaching tools. They will keep abreast of and develop expertise in emerging learning and technologies. They will be a resource for new teaching approaches that facilitate and encourage greater student interaction and engagement. They will also work with senior academic faculty on learning assessments and outcomes.

Education Requirements: A minimum of Master's Degree in instructional design, educational technology or related academic discipline.

Qualification and Experience: REQUIRED: - Three+ years' experience working directly with academic faculty, teaching staff or subject matter experts in the development of classroom and online courses - Knowledge of current instructional theories and practices applicable to learning technologies - A demonstrated ability to: o steward good design thinking and process o advocate for an exceptional visual design and user experience for faculty and students o understand how to effectively balance the needs of the user while optimizing for effective learning and sustainable processes and practices o Creative thinker with the ability to transcend current practices and build opportunities to advocate change - Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively with and to provide world-class support to Kenan-Flagler faculty is critical to success in this position. - Ability to advise faculty in the design, development and implementation of technology that supports and enhances instruction and learning - Partner with faculty in translating course content into design solutions, including presentations, infographics and animations - Work with faculty and video production manager to assist with basic video editing as needed - Ability to work in a cross-functional environment - Working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Moodle or Sakai - Experience providing training, workshops, and support to faculty and students - Occasional domestic and international travel required PREFERRED: - Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and After Effects or other graphic design, video editing, web development, photography software. - Ability to champion best practices related to curriculum design, active learning and emerging approaches to teaching practices. - 3+ years' experience designing digital and offline assets - Outstanding creative and graphic design skills with a solid understanding of higher education and effective learning practices. - Apply and generate creative for UX and to partner with faculty to redesign course sites, apps, and other digital experiences and learning objects with the end user in mind
