Advertised Job Summary: The University of South Carolina is seeking a talented associate social media strategist to help bring our award-winning social media program to the next level. We're looking for a passionate self-starter with exceptional working knowledge of social media best practices and trendwatching to help grow our main, institutional (@UofSC) accounts as well as assist in efforts to bring university-affiliated accounts up to brand standards. The perfect candidate will have professional experience in social media and digital marketing, impeccable communication skills, and proven success in growing social accounts with an innovative approach. This position will use data to inform decisions and will collaborate closely with many stakeholders in the division of communications and public affairs including, but not limited to, staff videographers/photographers, designers, writers and a team of talented interns to ensure that the content we publish is optimized for each platform we use. The ideal candidate will be an energetic multitasker with excellent judgement who thrives when juggling several different to-do list items and doesn't wait around for a staff meeting before tackling the whole list. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about social media and all things #UofSC. The perfect candidate should also be able to understand, summarize and describe to stakeholders how and why certain pieces of content resonate with audiences more than others, what makes certain content worth sharing and the importance of engagement as a metric of success on social media. This position requires 1-3 years' experience managing social accounts for an organization or brand. Please provide links to social media accounts that demonstrate your ability to publish content (which should be made public for the duration of the application/search process) as well as links to any accounts which you run for a brand or business. Also, share 3 - 5 links to UofSC posts (editorial and/or video) published within the last year that you think did really well on social media and explain why you believe they were high-performers.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree. 1-3 years of experience online writing/editing/curating/programming on social. Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and other web-based design software tools like Canva. Reasonable understanding of photography. Native Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram + IG Stories, Snapchat and LinkedIn user.
