Development Content Program Professional

This position involves extensive professional writing, photography, occasional graphic design and videography in support of philanthropic efforts. This position will produce news releases and social media posts, support fundraising communications, and broadly support outreach efforts by producing content, curate donor-centric collateral, create and collect new and existing content for distribution in coordination with the UCCS Advancement Communications and Marketing team, CU system advancement, the CU Foundation and campus partners. The multi-skilled professional will effectively navigate various emerging content creation and execution techniques.

Serve as content developer/writer
  • Participate in strategic planning of messaging, target audience development and refinement, content creation, and content promotion.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the team's creativity, efficiency and accomplishment of set goals.
  • Works cooperatively to create original, high-quality written and photo/video content for use in system/UCCS annual fund and campus-based communication channels in support of the university's development/philanthropic efforts and strategic plan.
  • Set strategic plan and execute required content needs for annual publication, Impact, as well as any future publications in partnership with campus stakeholders.
  • Conceptualize, coordinate and produce audience-focused content supporting development and philanthropic initiatives for the UCCS campus that supports target audience engagement.
  • Utilize an on-brand tone, voice and writing style for all communications.
  • Read, analyze and evaluate existing development website content for freshness, impact and cohesiveness.
  • Edit and repurpose existing copy for improved user consumption.
  • Develop and coordinate sharable content that supports and reflects a campus-wide strategy.
  • Proofread and edit content developed through other internal/external channels.
  • Develop content based upon the successes of philanthropic contributions to share with our constituent base including alumni, community members, foundations, corporations, campus partners, students, faculty and staff.
  • Incorporate engaging video into the UCCS development communication channels that brings to life the stories of our above constituents.
  • Write scripted content for use by various University faculty, staff and senior leadership for the purpose of communicating philanthropic messages. Additionally, create scripted content to conduct interviews for videos as appropriate.
  • Publish print and online content and act as a contributor within the UCCS content management system.
  • Work in partnership with alumni and annual fund office, communications, marketing, web services and key campus content developers.



Account/Project collaboration and management
  • Serve as development department's point of contact for content-related project initiatives and questions.
  • Work in partnership with alumni and annual fund office, communications, marketing, web services and key campus content developers.
  • Work with marketing, communications and creative agency team members to develop creative concepts to drive initiative-based and brand awareness campaigns.
  • Serve as project manager and liaison to outside vendors on all UCCS development driven projects and initiatives, including editorial direction, design, production and distribution of publications materials in accordance with UCCS and CU brand standards.
  • Assist departments/colleges in coordinating philanthropic and donor-centric messaging.
  • Work with Executive Director of Development and development officers to assist departments/colleges in their philanthropic marketing/branding objectives, including branded templates, messaging platforms, style guides and graphic resources.
  • Communicate with colleges/departments about content strategies for their specific philanthropic webpages for consistency and inspiration.
  • Work with System Advancement, Media Services and vendors, to serve as project manager on all philanthropic-related video projects.
  • Working with the Executive Director of Development, and Director of Alumni Relations and the Annual fund to utilize best-practices, research and data analysis to make informed recommendations related to messaging and content.
  • Working with the Executive Director of Development, identify and develop annual strategic communication initiatives in support of philanthropic:
    • Donor engagement
    • Donor stewardship outreach
    • Video strategies
    • Web communications strategies and content development for UCCS giving pages, Clyde's Crowd, and select scholarship/program pages.
    • Communication collateral supporting frontline fundraising efforts.
  • Manage communication of content strategies and requirements among department peers, system advancement representatives, and the creative agency teams to ensure consistency in tone and brand.
  • Keep account reps and vendors informed to ensure all work is on strategy and on deadline.
  • Ensure projects meet strategic branding guidelines.
  • Affirm vendor billing is accurate and associated with the appropriate projects.
  • Manage communication and marketing initiatives, including vendor relationships, scheduling meetings, monitoring and reporting on progress of the initiative.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong, clear writing, editing and proofreading skills for the web are essential.
  • Proven ability to create collaborative working relationships both internally and externally
  • Possess a strong knowledge and understanding of current online communication channels.
  • Ability to create graphic content.
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital and social media content and formats.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with a sense of urgency and ability to effectively navigate within a complex organization.
  • Working knowledge of digital photography and video production.
  • Experience with web technologies (SEO, content management systems, digital analytics, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with contributing to brand awareness and implementation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a shared governance community.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

For the purposes of FLSA this position has been determined to be exempt from (not eligible for) overtime under FLSA.

Salary Range: $50,500.00 - $55,000.00

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in these specific fields: Business with a Marketing Emphasis, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, English, Education or Public Relations
  • Minimum 2-3 years professional experience writing and editing in a marketing, journalism, or copywriting capacity


Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in account management and vendor coordination
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience in a development/stewardship centric environment.
  • Experience producing, editing or coordinating the development of quality videos
  • Competent with Photoshop, After Effects, Motion or similar professional creative software
  • Demonstrated use of analytical decision making
