The Office of Financial Planning and Analysis seeks to hire an experienced financial analyst with the drive, professional curiosity, and persistence to solve complex financial problems in a challenging higher education environment. Qualified candidates will have significant financial analysis experience, and are able to operate independently, with little supervision. They typically lead cross functional teams over whom they exercise no formal supervision.
The UVAFinance team recently adopted a vision to become the valued and trusted financial partner that the University community turns to first. The Senior Financial Analyst is integral to achieving this vision; he/she will be focused on financial and cost analysis projections. The Senior Financial Analyst will lead the development of cost studies and other complex financial analyses in order to provide insights that support the UVAFinance mission and vision. The Senior Financial Analyst will be a champion of lean thinking and collaboration, communicating and negotiating across organizational lines to successfully turn data into informative and actionable information. The Senior Financial Analyst must represent the UVAFinance core values: to be (1) an impeccable source of information and (2) a collaborative partner; to provide (3) service excellence and (4) communication.
The Senior Financial Analyst will lead and support development of cost studies and other complex financial analyses for the institution. Most importantly, this position will have responsibility for several parts of the University's Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Rate Proposal to the federal government, when in cycle. In addition, this position will manage internal cost allocation projects and other financial/cost analysis projects as needed, provide oversight of the F&A recoveries distribution, and conduct the review/approval for the recharge center rate setting process. This position also serves the University in a consulting and advisory role for accounting and compliance issues related to F&A; assists central accounting in performing data analysis and reporting tasks; and contributes to developing presentations to and for senior-level management.
