The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is looking to fill the position of Assistant Director of Event Management to support the Facilities and Game Operations office.

The Assistant Director of Event Management position exists to provide event management for the Department of Athletics in an effort to achieve operational excellence. The Department of Athletics Facilities & Operations Event Management office provides exceptional customer service by assisting sport programs, partnering with event services vendors, and managing revenue generating public events in an effort to ensure the fans, alumni and general public have an exceptional event experience.

This position will manage and direct all facets of Division I Athletics event management, including planning, preparation, and facilitation for regular season and post-season competition. Duties include: training and overseeing event staff, logistical arrangements for set-up and breakdown of equipment necessary for events, organizing housekeeping and maintenance of areas affected by events, assigning timers/scorers for events, overseeing activities related to hosting NCAA/ACC championships, coordinating and scheduling facility maintenance, and other duties that support athletic events at the University.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong situational awareness and the ability to prioritize and stay composed under pressure.
Ability to interact with administrators, coaches, and staff members. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to work with tact on complex and sensitive issues. Ability to organize and present ideas, materials, and concepts accurately and within required deadlines.
