University Information Technology's unique role in accomplishing the University's mission is to provide the primary university-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software, data and voice communications, and professional personnel on campus.

UIT Desktop Services (UDS) is a department in Instructional IT Services (IITS), the division of University Information Technology (UIT) most associated with direct support of student and faculty teaching and learning. The three departments within the division and their varied services function separately but work collaboratively to facilitate technical assistance for meaningful and successful teaching and learning experiences at UNT.

Job Description
The University IT Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Cross Functional IT Support Manager to join our team.

IITS is seeking to hire a Cross Functional IT Support Manager
to support its expanded customer base which currently includes UIT Staff technology services, computer-based education resources on the UNT Denton campus and the Discovery Park, and other UIT Desktop projects and services for the UNT Denton campus community as well as the UNT Frisco campus and UNT Dallas. The position reports to the Director of Instructional IT Services. The position will be comprised of primarily system administration duties and technical support not only for UIT and IITS resources but also for applications with university-wide and system-wide scope and impact. This position will work closely with UDS and UIT upper level management to ensure that all needs are met and all personnel and resources are leveraged for excellent productivity and service.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Supervision, technical management and support of UIT IIT resources and projects throughout the UNT campus and system including current and new initiatives.
* Providing Apple Desktop and Server Management and Microsoft Desktop and Laptop Management support for UIT and the University.
* Providing support of campus-wide and system-wide certification testing resources and other selected software resources.
* Providing extensive and informative documentation of usage statistics and other metrics of services managed as needed.
* Technical management and support of UIT staff member technology resources in collaboration with other UDS personnel.
* Creating and maintaining documentation and training materials for services; providing effective communication of these services.
* Collaboration on special projects with UIT, UDS, and university- and system-wide personnel as mandated and needed.
* Providing after-hours on-call support of critical systems managed as necessary.
* Managing inventory tracking of assigned assets.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
* Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
* Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
* Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
* Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Knowledge and experience with application and package preparation and deployment using SCCM, JAMF or Group Policy.
* Knowledge and experience creating and deploying Windows system images using SCCM (or OSD, etc.).
* Knowledge and experience with Windows Server operating systems.
* Knowledge of Active Directory organization and management.
* Practical experience with scripting and automation techniques on Windows and/or Mac OS X (Linux) platforms.
