Position Summary

This half-time (0.5 FTE) position is housed in the SOE Office of Research and will work closely with UNCG faculty and Principal Preparation for Excellence and Equity in Rural Schools (PPEERS) Program staff to provide program leadership, including program design, implementation, and evaluation; serving as liaison with our 9 rural partner districts; teaching courses in the PPEERS program (~3 per year); supervising principal interns; and other duties as assigned. The Assistant Director will report to the PPEERS Director.

Responsibilities include:
-Performing leadership roles for PPEERS, including:
-Providing program leadership, including program design, implementation, and evaluation;
-Serving as liaison with our rural partner districts;
-Engaging in communication with all stakeholders;
-Planning and implementing program events, such as Performance Learning Days, study tours, mock interviews, and stakeholder meetings; and collaboratively recruiting and selecting candidates into PPEERS cohorts.

-Teaching Masters in School Administration (MSA) courses for PPEERS (~3/year)
-Planning/preparing for, teaching, and evaluating student performance for assigned courses, including ELC 690: Internship, which involves supervising students during their 10-month, full-time internships in the second year of the two-year program and co-planning/co-implementing bi-weekly internship seminars on Thursdays in partner districts
-Engaging in collaborative curriculum work to ensure coherence of coursework across the program and integration of theory and practice

Minimum Qualifications

- Doctorate in educational leadership or equivalent (ABD is acceptable);
- At least 4 years previous experience as a school administrator, including at least two years as principal.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in administration or teaching in a rural school/district
- Experience teaching graduate courses
- Experience mentoring/coaching pre-service school leaders
