ACADEMIC ADVISOR,Kilachand Honors College

Kilachand Honors College seeks to hire an Academic Advisor with 3-5 years of experience working in diversity initiatives and/or living-learning communities. Kilachand Academic Advisors are a resource for prospective and continuing Kilachand students regarding policies, resources, and academic requirements of Kilachand, the BU Hub, and Boston University. Advisors help students to identify and integrate their strengths and interests to craft coherent and fulfilling academic plans. Kilachand Academic Advisors manage student groups, sit on university-wide committees, and serve as the point-of-contact for specific initiatives within Kilachand. Kilachand actively seeks to diversify its student, staff, and faculty ranks, recognizing that diversity of experience deepens the intellectual endeavor. We seek to embed within our curriculum and community the principle that pluralism within a learning community is a source of insight and effectiveness. Kilachand Academic Advisors are crucial to this work as they mentor students and participate in the living-learning community.

A bachelors degree is required for this position. A master's degree in education, counseling, or related fields preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. The desire and ability to work both independently and within a team. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Proficiency in WordPress is preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster a professional yet welcoming environment. Three to five years of experience in an academic environment, preferably in a student-facing position. Experience in diversity initiatives and/or living-learning communities preferred. Morning, evening, and weekend flexibility.
