DESCRIPTION:
This is a 2-year fixed term position.
The Office for Religious Life (ORL) seeks a Communications Coordinator (50% FTE) who will be a part of a diverse ORL team which supports the Stanford community by offering an array of year-round religious and spiritual events and programs. The position requires an understanding of, and commitment to, the mission and purpose of the Office for Religious Life, which is to oversee the religious and spiritual life of the campus, with care and compassion in not only what we do, but how we do our work for the Stanford community.

The ORL oversees the following facilities/space, in which a variety of programming occurs: the historic Stanford Memorial Church, at the heart of the campus in the main quad and the third floor of the Old Union which forms the Center for Inter-Religious Community, Learning and Experiences (CIRCLE). In addition, the ORL oversees programming at Windhover, a contemplative center, whose operations are managed by the office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

JOB PURPOSE:
Coordinate and execute marketing efforts for the Office for Religious Life (ORL) brand, programs, services, and events. Produce a variety of communication materials for both print and digital media. Maintain knowledge of graphic design and digital media industry standards, trends and current technologies to enhance ORL marketing reach to the Stanford community and beyond. Further develop a digital community on behalf of, and while representing, the ORL.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Under supervision, participate in a broad range of projects to create marketing materials for ORL programs and events; may independently perform duties with limited/definited scope.
  • Develop a variety of communication pieces for both print and digital media. Produce print (brochures, flyers, stickers, etc.) and digital (ads, banners, logos) collateral for ORL programs and events.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce marketing collateral. Drupal and HTML to update ORL website.
  • Use online software such as MailChimp to prepare and send weekly e-newsletter and social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to promote ORL activities and news.
  • Work with printers (such as PIP, Prodigy Press) to order print collateral, schedule advertising on paid advertising outlets (Stanford Daily and Stanford Report) and order from promotional materials vendors (4imprint, Motivators, etc.)
  • Track and review analytics from paid advertising, publicity and social media efforts
  • Contribute to overall development and refinement of digital community strategy, and innovative social initiatives. Engage in team discussions to evaluate marketing analytics; design and execute marketing plan of action in line with ORL mission and vision

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Desired: Experience using Adobe Creative Suite to produce print and digital marketing materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in creating graphic designs.
  • Ability to translate established design concepts/themes into finished pieces.
  • Demonstrated understanding of job-required software applications and mediums.
  • Strong organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current industry standards, trends, and technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
  • Highly organized and creative.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach/work above shoulders.
  • Occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat, use a telephone, speaking.
  • Visual acuity including color vision.
