Temporary Payroll & Benefits Administrator

This recruitment is for Temporary Payroll & Benefits Administrator positions through UCI's internal temporary service.

UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) is continuously seeking applicants to assist in filling the temporary needs of the UC Irvine Campus in Irvine and the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. We recruit for this position on an on-going basis in order to build a talent pool of potential candidates.

Payroll & Benefits Administrator

Independently audit and reconcile complex high risk travel/entertainment reimbursements and payments for both the campus and the medical center to ensure that payments are made in accordance with the University's policies, state and federal law and government agency regulations. Audit all payments subject to fraud and those subject to the Public Records Act to ensure compliance.

Identifies reimbursements to senior management that are subject to Public Records Act requests. Communicates policies and reimbursement standards to senior management as well as other key positions on the campus and at the medical center. Ensures that all transactions are brought into compliance.

Independently analyzes and resolves unique and complex technical Kuali
Financial System (KFS) issues. Develops logical and objective recommendations and /or solutions to situations occurring outside standard administrative policy.
Works closely with KFS users and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to ensure that appropriate system modifications are made to resolve issues.

Initiates or responds to campus inquiries related to KFS travel and entertainment policies. Determines appropriate corrective action as needed and coordinates the preparation of the proper financial system documents. Questions are frequently complex, requiring the interpretation, synthesis and application of a variety of policies, procedures and regulations.

Reviews and authorizes KFS payments and reimbursements to ensure compliance with the University of California policy, applicable state/federal laws, and guidelines to minimize and eliminate adverse effects and penalties to the University.

Provides ongoing advice and consultation to administrative management and to departmental administrators regarding complex accounting and travel policies, procedures and practices. Reviews requests for exception and independently delivers interpretation and analysis in a firm and persuasive manner. Conducts research on complex requests and issues that have not been encountered before.

Advise departments on ledger reconciliation, audit and preparation of financial journals, and appropriate accounting tools.
Provide backup to associates in times of peak workload and provide responses to their more technical and complex problems and questions.

Provide complex analysis and interpretation of the University's travel, entertainment and employee/non-employee policies and procedures for the campus and medical center.

Desired: Working knowledge or KUALI, Electronic Fund Transfers processing, general ledger inquire, and on line transfer of expense.

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., however, we also have occasional part-time, weekend and evening hours available. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.

Salary: $23.58 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
