Successful operational experience with at least two of the following: study abroad administration/management; international student recruitment; employment processing and supporting international students, faculty, or staff; intensive English or second language acquisition programs; other international activities.
Experience developing and managing a budget.

Experience working with diverse populations.
Prior experience as a director of international affairs or similar unit.
Administrative experience, including supervision of staff, at a large, public university.
Experience with income-generating funds.
Experience securing external grant funding or philanthropic funding.
Foreign language proficiency.
The Assistant Vice President for International Affairs (AVPIA) is charged with developing a strategic plan for international affairs within the context of the university's vision, mission, values, and strategic planning process. The AVPIA is further responsible for effective operations that enhance the international profile and reputation of the university by increasing the number of international students attending Texas State, working with units to attract distinguished international faculty and staff, advancing the university's research plan, and developing a wide array of programs, experiences and strategic partnerships that promote globalization within the university community. The AVPIA oversees work carried out by the offices of study abroad, intensive English, and international student and scholar services. In addition, the AVPIA coordinates initiatives with campus leadership and works closely with undergraduate and graduate admissions, the financial aid office, other administrative units, as well as colleges, academic units, and centers that have international components. The AVPIA reports to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA).
Provide leadership and management expertise for university-wide internationalization efforts including recruiting of international students, services for international students and scholars, study abroad, and English language training.
Facilitate campus internationalization through cross-divisional collaborative efforts.
Collaborate with colleges, academic departments, programs, and centers to create, support, and manage successful international partnerships between Texas State University and educational institutions abroad.
Communicate and interact with international and domestic students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars.
Ensure compliance with current federal and state regulations, as well as university policies and procedures that affect international affairs of the university.
Oversee traditional budgets and self-supporting/client-funded units in line with the university strategic plans.
Collaborate with university stakeholders to identify potential external funding opportunities.

First review of applicants will begin September 7, 2018 followed by phone interviews the week of September 16th and 23rd. Campus interviews will likely take place in October and November.
