Job Description
The University of California Irvine's Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is seeking an Associate Specialist to engage in statistical methods and applied research to investigate the efficiency of Alzheimer's disease clinical trial designs. The Associate Specialist, under the direction of the principal investigators Drs. Joshua Grill ( and Daniel Gillen (, will be responsible for the performance of the research study “Effects of Alzheimer's disease clinical trial study partners.” This project is funded through a grant from the National Institutes of Health for a period of 4-years.
The position will be responsible for conducting secondary data analyses of existing clinical trials data and using the empirical results from those analyses to inform the development of novel and efficient sequential trial designs in the setting of Alzheimer's disease treatment and prevention. Expertise in survival and longitudinal analysis methods is necessary


Applicants must possess graduate level training in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or Public Health. Candidates should have a strong publication record and also possess good interpersonal and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet established goals and deadlines. Expertise in survival and longitudinal analysis methods is necessary. Experience in clinical trials and group sequential methods is desired.

This position is funded by a NIH grants to the co-mentors. As such, eligible candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment. Initial appointments are for two years and renewal is based on availability of support.

This position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate
