Job description

Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Admission.

The Assistant Director of Admission represents the institution to prospective students and parents, college counselors, and alumnae, and recruits secondary school students to Hollins, assisting them throughout the selection, application, admission, financial aid, and enrollment processes.  This position facilitates recruitment activities within a specified region, and assists the Office of Admission in conducting outreach to prospective students through aggressive tele-counseling campaigns.  Additionally, the assistant director manages recruitment programming, and assists with all on-campus admission events.  He/she reports to the Director of Admission.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree; minimum of two years of successful admission counseling, community college, or other related work experience; Microsoft Office proficiency; well-developed communication and organizational skills; ability to articulate the value of a liberal arts education for women; commitment to enrolling a diverse student body; and ability to work independently and on a team.  Other qualifications include abilities to work effectively with students and campus constituencies, to work with alumnae from multiple decades on admission projects, and to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other campus departments.  Applicants must have ability and willingness to travel by ground and air in recruitment region and to work evening and weekend hours as needed.  Must also have a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations.  Applicants with experience in girls’ or women’s education and proficiency in Spanish as a second language are preferred.  Final candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle background check.
