The New School seeks an Assistant Vice President of Enrollment – Recruitment and Strategy primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s recruitment strategy and oversight of external facing initiatives related to enrollment. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM), the AVP is a member of SEM’s senior leadership team tasked with providing direction and leadership for the area. In conjunction with the Vice President, the AVP will collaboratively develop and execute an integrated student recruitment and outreach strategy for more than 135 graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs within a complex, multi-faceted educational context. The AVP supervises staff within Welcome Center Services, Admission Communications, as well as admissions staff within Parsons School of Design and the College of Performing Arts.

  • The Assistant Vice President of Enrollment – Recruitment, Systems and Operations develop a comprehensive and coordinated admission recruitment plan that incorporates all degree and certificate programs at TNS—undergraduate (freshmen and transfer), graduate, global, adult, and professional
  • Oversee admission staff within Parsons School of Design and the College of Performing Arts, with particular focus on the development of recruitment strategies for the visual and performing arts
  • Leads the Welcome Center and Admissions Communications including the University Welcome Center and a series of key Admission Events, on and off-campus, throughout the year
  • Serve as primary liaison to external vendors with a view to building key partnerships
  • Foster and cultivate excellent customer service to internal and external constituents. Set a standard of collaborative leadership for SEM and other New School administrative offices
  • Build programming with Alumni and Development office to engage New School alumni and faculty in the recruitment of students
  • Partner with the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment – Recruitment, Systems and Operations to provide coordination of staff training, professional development, admission systems and operations management, and the development of admission policies and procedures
  • Partner with the Systems & Operations staff to ensure data-driven decisions and quality/timeliness of admission communications and engagement
  • Work closely with Financial Aid and Student Accounts to implement cross functional processes for Strategic Enrollment Management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the university, including within Strategic Enrollment Management, Student Success, Registrar, academic deans and others to further the achievement of enrollment goals
  • Serve as Strategic Enrollment Management’s primary liaison to University Marketing and Communications for the development of recruitment materials and implementation of brand messaging
  • Perform other duties as assigned by VP, SEM

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required, Master’s preferred), with a minimum of 15 years of successful work in higher education
  • Experience within a tuition-driven college/university with demonstrable experience in effectively articulating an institution’s mission and priorities
  • Direct and significant experience with current best practices for higher education marketing and recruitment in selective institutions
  • Experience within an arts/professional school environment, including the ability to relate well to artist/practitioner faculty and prospective students
  • Experience managing a large budget, to include recruiting marketing and travel expenditures
  • Excellent managerial skills, with experience leading a professional team in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive experience with recruitment CRMs and external vendors/partners who support enrollment processes
  • Professional demeanor, with strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work within a collaborative university team
