Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English or related field
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
* Experience in higher education marketing
* A minimum of 7 years of full-time experience in marketing and integrated marketing communications, including developing and executing strategic marketing plans and creative development
*Demonstrated experience and success working in the intersection of digital marketing, web, CRM, and marketing automation
License or certificate:
Certifications or demonstrated experience with Google analytics and inbound marketing
This position provides strategic marketing direction for a portfolio of academic programs and service centers in the School of Education at UW-Madison. The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing and supervising the marketing plans and activities School priorities, such as marketing academic programs. This includes developing, overseeing, and implementing comprehensive and strategic integrated marketing plans in addition to supervising staff. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Communications and Advancement.
As part of the Communications and Advancement team at the School of Education, the Marketing Manager will work closely with members of the team and with internal constituents. The Communications and Advancement office is responsible for communication, marketing, alumni relations, and development work that advances and support the School's priorities.
Well-qualified applicants will have a successful track record in the following areas:
*Ability to transform organizational initiatives into successful marketing plans and brand strategies
*Ability to develop and execute tactical plans, including creative development that is on strategy, on target, and on message to meet business goals
*Ability to use and interpret marketing analytics to evaluate and optimize marketing strategies
*Experience with all key advertising and communications vehicles, including digital, social media, content & web, print, and video, to deliver marketing and brand initiatives
*Experience working collaboratively with writers, marketers, and creative team
*Experience in rebranding and brand launch efforts
*Experience participating on team to develop, maintain, and optimize websites
*Superior communications skills (written and verbal), including strong presentation skills
*Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships across the organization
*Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with diverse audiences
*Experience supervising staff and developing talent
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
*Superior project management skills, workload balancing, time management, and organizational skills
*Ability to understand the needs of internal clients and build innovative and effective solutions
*Critical thinking skills, including the ability to understand and consider both the big picture and the details
