Asst Professor

The Division of Urology at the University of Colorado is recruiting a full time, urologic oncologist to join our faculty. The start date for this position will be winter of 2018 or early Fall of 2019. This is a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Our urologic oncology service is staffed by full-time faculty as well as mid-level providers and provides oncologic care for patients originating throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and beyond. The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services, supervise advanced practice providers and nurses in providing care for patients and direct medical students and urology residents in all aspects of clinical urologic oncology. These duties will include clinic at the University of Colorado Cancer Center Urologic Oncology Clinic, inpatient and outpatient surgeries primarily at UCH. Close collaboration with colleagues, hospital and clinic staff will be necessary. There will be opportunities for practice growth at new outlying UCHealth facilities.

In addition, there will be a requirement for ongoing research activities in urologic malignancies. Extensive prior experience with programmatic development, leadership positions, and grant awards is preferred however any candidate at or approaching the level of Associate Professor will be carefully considered.

The Division of Urology is a rapidly expanding program, ranked number 38 in the nation this year by US News and World Report. We have fellowship-trained urologists in every urologic subspecialty and accept three residents into our urology residency program each year. While this position gives the opportunity to practice all aspects of Urologic Oncology, we are most interested in a candidate comfortable performing pelvic robotic surgery with an interest in prostate cancer. Compensation for this position will be highly competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package.


Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Board certified or board eligible in urology
  • Fellowship trained in Urologic Oncology
  • Assistant Professor with at least 3 years of experience at this rank
  • Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team
  • Eligible to obtain a license to practice as a physician in the state of Colorado

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in urologic oncology including robotics, reconstructive surgery, advanced pelvic, and retroperitoneal surgery
  • Demonstrated proficiency in urology clinical, educational, and research efforts
  • An interest in developing a busy clinical practice and research in Prostate or Kidney Cancer
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Federal or clinical grant funding
