The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is a university learning center. Our mission is to help the diverse population of undergraduate students at Florida State University to develop study skills for academic and personal success, identify and implement habits that enhance learning, and encourage the highest level of scholarship and academic achievement. ACE does this through a variety of services, including academic (SLS) coursework, non-credit programs and workshops. With the combined efforts of facilitated study sessions (PASS), advising, tutoring, and study facilities, ACE has had success with the undergraduate population in need of academic support. Responsible for coordinating administrative, supervisory, and operational activities for ACE Learning Studio. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains student employees and coordinates HR processes for their employment. Supervises tutors and coordinates tutors schedules. Manages and reports on the tutoring budget. Creates and revises tutor training materials and manuals. Coordinates and conducts performance evaluations, tutor training and year-round development. Coordinates group tutoring sessions. Coordinates online tutoring sessions both individual and group tutoring.
Assists in collecting, analyzing, and reporting learning center usage data. Serves as a liaison and collaborates with academic advisors and campus partners including but not limited to CARE, Student Athlete Academic Services, and University Libraries. Works interdependently within the ACE team to support all learning center initiatives. Develops marketing and promotional materials for the campus community. Coordinates campus outreach. Develops, markets and presents workshops on academic success strategies.
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years. Experience with training and supervising undergraduate students. Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communications skills. Experience with collecting, analyzing, and organizing data for reports, manuals, and materials.
Master's degree in educational psychology, higher education, math, or other STEM discipline is preferred. Preferred candidate will have experience working in a college or university learning center. Experience in a culturally diverse university environment with students of varying academic ability level. Experience with developing workshops related to academic success.
Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipated hiring rate in the mid $30,000s
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
