Job Summary

The Campus Director is responsible for the direction and coordination of all activities pertaining to the administration of financial aid programs offered on the campus; as well as, the overall responsibility for the general supervision and operation of the campus Financial Aid Office This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees and supervises the day-to-day operations within Financial Aid department
  • Prepares reports for submission to governmental agencies and other sources of student financial aid funds
  • Coordinates all campus Financial Aid administrative activities
  • Directs the financial aid award process at the campus in accordance with current Federal and State regulations, College policies and procedures
  • Serves as a member of the College financial aid committee which advises on College financial aid activities
  • Hires, supervises and evaluates all staff at the Campus Financial Aid office
  • Approves time and attendance and monitors and approves the departmental budget
  • Implements procedures, guidelines, and Financial Aid processes at the Campus in accordance with current federal and state regulations, as well as College policies and procedures
  • Assists students with complaints and appeals about decisions made concerning federal, state, and college policies
  • Serves as a campus representative on College-wide committees that deal with Financial Aid
  • Resolves issues and problems that may arise with students, staff, faculty, outside agencies and the community as they pertain to Financial Aid
  • Works in coordination with the College-wide Financial Aid Director to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services at the Campus
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field and five (5) years of administrative experience in financial aid or other related areas of student affairs; or Bachelor's degree in a related field and nine (9) years of administrative experience in financial aid or other related areas of student affairs
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State financial aid programs and applicable rules and regulations
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignments
