The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a tenure-eligible or tenured faculty position and will lead in the development of a new Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Further, the appropriately qualified candidate may be eligible to be nominated to an endowed chair. Rank, tenure status, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. Necessary resources for research, including basic science laboratories, will be provided by the Department, School or the University.
Candidates for the tenure-eligible position must have a medical degree and be board certified or an active candidate for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, the incumbent must have successfully completed (or have successfully completed at the time of hire) a postgraduate training program in OB/GYN and an American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists fellowship (2 years preferred) whose curriculum included the management of abdominal and pelvic pain. A commitment to teaching, research and scholarship is also required as is demonstrated experience and expertise in surgical skills and techniques for complex laparoscopic, open and vaginal cases.
To be considered for the tenured position, candidates must demonstrate excellence in two domains: research, education or clinical care, substantial scholarship of application, synthesis, discovery and a regional or national reputation.
