GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The University of Guam is looking for an individual who is interested in new challenges and opportunities for professional and personal growth.  This position calls for someone who is self-motivated and adaptable, intelligent, possesses a global vision and who is interested in working in a dynamic, multi-cultural institution.

UNIT DESCRIPTION:

A four-year accredited engineering degree program to help meet current and growing demand for engineering expertise in Guam’s private and public sectors.  The anticipated rapid economic growth and development in our community and region over the next decade will produce an acute need for engineering talent to support new construction, repair and rehabilitation of aging infrastructure, development of natural resources, and environmental preservation and protection.  It is therefore envisioned that the engineering curriculum will focus, at least initially, on civil and environmental engineering.  The project goal is to establish a four-year accredited engineering degree program at UOG.  The degree program will offer a four-year Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering.  The program will be accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET).  The program will have faculty with expertise in the basic civil engineering and environmental fields.  A new building will house the new program.  There will be adequate space for classrooms, laboratories, and office space for students and faculty.

 CHARACTER OF DUTIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate expertise and scholarly interests in areas related to hydrology and hydraulics and water resources topics and to develop and teach curricula in those and other related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) areas.  In addition, duties will include advising students and developing an externally funded research program in his or her area of specialization.  Furthermore, an ability to contribute to other general learning outcomes including engineering laws, ethics, economics, and sustainability would be considered as an added asset.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Civil (Water Resources or related) Engineering from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent, evidence of scholarly achievement, and U.S. professional engineering registration or capability of obtaining the Guam registration within a reasonable period of time is required.  Must be willing to teach online.

Preferred: Experience working with online learning programs.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Applicants for University of Guam faculty positions must complete an online job application through the UOG’s online employment portal at https://uog.peopleadmin.com.  Please have the following documents prepared and ready to upload with your application:
