Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Department of Management houses over 375 majors, plus teaches a number of service courses in the College of Business (CoB). The CoB enrolls over 1700 undergraduate and graduate students. The Management Department includes the rapidly growing concentration in logistics.
The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College & State University invites applications a lecturer in logistics and transportation. The position will become a tenure track position in the Fall of 2018 which will be an open and international search. We are seeking candidates with a distinguished record of accomplishment in logistics, transportation and supply chain management, with demonstrated potential to be an effective research in a growing program. We are searching for an inspiring teacher-scholar, leader and colleague who will enhance the logistics concentration, assist in growing the logistics and supply chain management programs and assist in creating an undergraduate major in the discipline.
Primary Purpose of Position: The Lecturer in Management will teach four courses each term ) at the undergraduate level. Desired courses include Intro to MGMT, business statistics, operations, and electives such as HR.
The position will reside in the Department of Management, which supports the undergraduate curriculum across many majors and offers the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management.
Faculty - Teaching/Instructing:
Primary responsibilities of the position: 4/4 teaching load, fall and spring. Teach courses in Business Statistics and/or Operations, Principles of Management, Strategy, or elective courses such as Human Resources and Compensation and Benefits.
This faculty member will also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non‐majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.
Faculty - Service to Institution: Assist other faculty in the service aspects of the department, including attending faculty meetings.
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level.
*Faculty support departmental programs and efforts at recruiting majors.
*Faculty attend and encourage students to attend co-curricular activities organized by the department.
*Faculty mentor students.
*Faculty develop and participate in student-focused extra-curricular activities that foster language learning.
Service also includes activities such as:
*Committee memberships and offices
Program development Participation in special programs or projects
Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other duties as required to insure the proper functioning of the department.
Earned PHD degree from an accredited college/university in the discipline of management or closely related field.
ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed by the end of the current academic year.
