Description


The Office of the Provost is responsible for setting and guiding institutional and budgetary priorities that advance the University’s academic mission. Together with deans and senior administrators, the Provost directs and supports the partnerships, collaborations, and planning initiatives on three Massachusetts campuses and an international center in Talloires, France. This team of academic leaders ensures that our educational and research programs are of the highest quality by working closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and students to fulfill the University’s goals and aspirations. The Office of the Provost is also responsible for the library system, international and industry collaborations, and the ten Boards of Advisors.

Under general direction, performs complex administrative support duties for the Provost and Provost’s Office. Major responsibilities include intensive and complex scheduling for Provost and constituents, and preparing data and reports. Incumbent will act as department liaison answering questions and communicating on behalf of Provost or directing concerns to appropriate individuals. Other duties include travel arrangements, event planning, scheduling, and other projects as required.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years executive office experience (with High School degree)/ Minimum of 3 years executive office experience (with Bachelor’s degree).
  • Advanced computer skills Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and electronic scheduling applications required.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and Drupal CMS’s.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and a strong focus on customer service is required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, superior judgment and discretion in handling confidential information, keen attention to detail and the ability to follow through.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently and to work independently, efficiently and accurately and within deadlines.
  • Selected individual must be a self-starter with the ability to work as a team player.
  • Must possess a positive working attitude and excellent prioritization, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess integrity, flexibility, warmth, and a professional manner.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in an academic leadership office, preferably a provost's or dean's office working in a responsible position.
  • Broad exposure to a variety of areas of university administration.
  • At least 1 year of event planning, logistical co-ordination, and program budgeting experience is desirable.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

occasional overtime during the week or on weekend during special project or event periods.
