Senior Immigration Specialist - International Center-18001333
Description

The International Center provides immigration assistance advice and intercultural programming to 510 international undergraduate, 496 international graduate students, and 267 international faculty/research scholars. The Center is authorized by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the US Department of State (DOS) to issue non-immigrant visa documentation. The staff works to ensure that students, faculty/scholars are in legal status while either studying or working at Tufts. Additionally, the staff works to ensure that individuals have a productive, successful academic or work and personal experience at Tufts University.

Under limited supervision, responsible for oversight of all university academic H1-B visas. Applies broad knowledge and experience to advise individual international scholars, faculty and staff on related complex visa matters and issues. Serves as liaison with Departments of Labor and Homeland Security concerning questions about petitions. Ensures international scholars and faculty are compliant with immigration employment legal requirements.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Master’s Degree or equivalent.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Breadth of knowledge of immigration law and regulations.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, immigration system applications such as SEVIS, fsaAtlas and e-Scholar.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong written and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills.
  • Flexible.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and project assignments simultaneously.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.
