Senior Social Media Specialist - Communications and Marketing-18001342

The University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team has responsibility for marketing and brand management, communications, public relations, and editorial services—all in support of the priorities of Tufts University.

Partners with UCM colleagues to utilize the university’s main social media properties to the fullest. Ensures that channels are tightly synchronized in support of the university’s goals related to revenue generation and reputation building. Works closely with colleagues in the Marketing, Public Relations, and Editorial teams to develop social media content marketing plans around key university initiatives, to support marketing goals as well as objectives for reputation growth. Measures the effectiveness of various social channels and makes determination on the investment in new channels. Expands the reach of the university’s main social media channels, through expanding the follower base and selectively engaging with influencers among Tufts’ constituents. Devises strategies by segment for engaging with key audiences, including donors and prospective students. Maximizes creative marketing of content produced from within UCM and elsewhere at the university.

Basic Requirements:
  • B.A. or B.S. in marketing, communications, marketing analytics, or similarly focused degrees.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience of managing social media presences, as well as experience with digital content/assets and content marketing.
  • Proven record of implementing data-centric methodologies, practices and strategies within a marketing environment, which have directly impacted the performance of social media channels and engagement.
  • Depth of analysis experience within search (organic and paid), social channels, and website analytics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of editorial content environments and the use of data to fuel positive creative impact. Use of relevant analytical tools and platform.
  • Must haves: Excel, PowerPoint, experience with Google Analytics, native analytics tools available within Facebook, Twitter and other social tools.
  • Superior visual storytelling and verbal skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to problem-solve and an orientation toward teams and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a not-for-profit or university setting.
