Tufts University Advancement is looking for an Alumni Relations Officer to join the volunteer management team within the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR). The OAR team believes in the value of a lifelong connection to the Tufts Community. We collaborate with alumni, students, parents, friends, and university partners to provide exceptional experiences around the world.

In conjunction with the Tufts University Alumni Association, OAR plans programs and supports volunteer opportunities for a diverse group of Tufts Alumni. We support campus-based, regional, shared interest, and international programs to engage our wide range of alumni around the world.

Within the Alumni Council & Volunteer Management team, this position helps recruit, onboard, develop, and retain all levels of alumni volunteers. This position collaborates with university partners, including athletics, career services, admissions, and academic departments, to introduce alumni to the full range of volunteer opportunities at Tufts and to meet alumni where they are in terms of how, where, and when they want to volunteer. This person works with OAR team members to reach alumni in new and exciting ways, provides administrative and programmatic support for our Alumni Leadership Summit, Tufts Alumni Council committees, and various outreach projects.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • Must be proactive, articulate, personable, well-organized, service-oriented to internal and external constituents, and able to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, including exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong attention to details.
  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience in alumni relations, development and/or volunteer management.
  • BA/BS.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and complex databases.
  • Able to work as part of a team, as well as independently; can do attitude.
  • Able to attend evening and weekend events, as well as travel domestically.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An aptitude for and commitment to thinking differently, learning new systems and applications, collaborating.
  • Proven ability to manage volunteers.
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management system (such as Advance).

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Must be able and willing to work irregular schedule. Some weeknights (approx. 2-3 per month) and all or part of some weekends (approx. 3-4 per year) will be required. Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
