WFSU-TV/The Florida Channel
Located in the state Capitol building, The FLORIDA Channel is a public affairs programming service funded by The Florida Legislature and produced and operated by WFSU-TV. It features programming covering all three branches of state government.
Serves as Videographer for the Florida Channel programming. Responsibilities include but are not limited to statewide travel to cover news events and documentaries.
Communicates frequently and directly with the immediate Supervisor, Executive Director, Newsroom staff and other Team Leaders.
Serves as Remote Live shots technician, sending stories and video b-roll back to the Florida Channel via Live U unit.
Adheres to policies and procedures established for submitting paperwork and supporting documents. Maintains administrative records to include, but not be limited to, travel and purchasing.
Serves as editor for The Florida Channel. Duties include but not limited to working with staff to gather raw footage (video and/or audio), assembling footage in a tapeless environment using non-linear & linear equipment for a finished product for TFC programming and transferring to the appropriate format for viewing. Adheres to and implements generally accepted creative and technical principles of broadcast production, along with procedures and principles established by TFC for legislative and public affairs program production; maintains records and archives program material (tapes, b-roll library, etc.) related techniques/formats unique to TFC.
Provides production assistance for remote events production. Serves as director (production personnel) for committee meetings, legislative session and other meetings and events as assigned. Serves as a member of the studio crew.
Other duties as assigned
An Associate's degree in a related area and a minimum of two (2) years professional experience shooting documentary and ENG news style;
(Note: Vocational/technical training and a minimum of two (2) years professional experience shooting documentary and ENG news style.
Extensive, demonstrated knowledge in equipment used for field and studio production; including cameras, lights, microphones, editing equipment - linear and non-linear, tape machines, digital and analog switchers/boards, and the use of robotic cameras and controls as well as the ability to edit raw video, linear and non-linear.
Experience editing raw video using linear and non-linear equipment for professional broadcast.
Must be computer literate; creative; and an independent worker with good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work on deadline, remain calm in demanding situations, and work as a team member in close proximity to others as well as ability to travel and work overtime, as assigned.
Ability to meet the physical demands of this position to include lifting/moving up to 50 lbs.
A valid State of Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain.
Anticipated Salary Range
Dependent upon education and experience.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
Soft Money Funded Position
This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm; however, hours will vary during legislative sessions, committee weeks, Capitol Complex and remote event production. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include working earlier, later and weekends, is required required. Requires ability to travel as assigned.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
