The Evaluation Manager is a member of WGU’s faculty. The Evaluation Manager may be the first level of management or may manage individual contributors through a supervisor. The Evaluation Manager has expert-level knowledge and understanding of the team’s subject-matter.

Evaluation Managers protect and serve the student’s right for a fair and accurate evaluation. The Evaluation Manager helps develop and consistently applies WGU and Evaluation Department policies and procedures. The Evaluation Manager ensures team members craft personalized, robust feedback to support accurate scoring of student responses and in furtherance of student progress. Evaluation Managers use insights to provide guidance to other evaluation faculty members, program development, course mentoring and university leadership. Leadership is expected to respond promptly to all concerns (4 hours goal, 24 hours max during work sessions.)

Evaluation Managers define and develop project plans to achieve strategic objectives as well as specific work plans and schedules to provide accurate and fair evaluations, with helpful (robust & personalized) feedback within our service level agreements to students. Evaluation Managers establish coverage within and between teams to meet the department’s commitment to students for a quick evaluation as defined by university leadership. The Evaluation Manager analyzes workflow, optimizes team resources, and manages evaluation performance to meet department goals.

An Evaluation Manager applies knowledge to contribute to development of operational practices; develops functional and organizational content; reviews practices and objectives to achieve goals in creative and effective ways; may determine calibration standards for courses; develop supporting training and tools (such as course resource documents, team and evaluator training, I-RA activities). The manager also applies analytical tools and data analysis to drive improvements in evaluation team performance including appropriately protecting sensitive information on evaluator performance. The manager will need to work with other functions within the Evaluation Department and/or with other departments. Will perform additional duties as assigned.

The Evaluation Manager will act as a coach and mentor to lead their team and the Evaluation faculty service line. Evaluation Managers provide critical on-boarding training and ensure all team members comply with the Evaluation Department procedures. Evaluation Managers are frequently the primary point of contact for colleagues in other organizations they support.

The Evaluation Manager is responsible for hiring and pay decisions as well as meeting department budgets.

Graduate degree in business. 3-5 years business industry experience. Experience with WGU's competency model.
