  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and other risk management regulations related to operations of STAR Park lab facilities.
  • Ability to align work and develops strategies to meet organizational goals; seek to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; and uphold organizational expectations and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to management direction, adapt to changes in work environment.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, take calculated risks, and exercise discretion and sound judgment.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry/Biochemistry.

    Job Description
    STAR Park at Texas State University is seeking a full-time Technical Operations Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing facility operations of STAR One, Texas State's 36,000 square foot technology incubator. The position will also be responsible for operations of the future Advanced Prototyping Lab. STAR Park is Texas State's 58-acre technology park.

    Job Duties
  • Serve as the lead person responsible for management of hazardous/chemical and other environmental elements, including coordination with EHSRM for permit compliance, associated with operations at STAR Park. Assist with the overall management and future operations of the Advanced Prototyping Lab (APL) located at STAR Park.
  • Serve as primary technical support and training person to faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, undergraduate students and industry clients in proper operations of equipment with the APL.
  • Serve as a STAR Park team member; anticipate needs for shared services upgrades; provide recommendations for meeting aggregate client needs.
  • Develop and maintain a utility and shared services capacity/demand matrix; provide STAR Park Executive Director periodic reports reflecting existing and anticipated demand/capacity ratios; assist STAR Park Executive Director in analysis of utility/services demand of prospective new or expanding clients as part of the negotiation of new or amended lease agreements.
  • Assist in the implementation of utility/shared services solutions to support efficient and effective facilities operations including but not limited to HVAC, chilled water, deionized water, compressed air, vacuum systems, electrical. Coordinate timely response to return to service for all shared systems. Assist with installation of new or donated equipment and instruments for use in research and student labs. Insure maximum weight, electrical, or other utility loads are not exceeded.
  • Provide recommendations to STAR Park management concerning means of addressing utility/shared service needs.
  • Manage a well-organized lab facility through developing, revising and maintaining accessible technical operational manuals, instrument maintenance and inspection logs, inventories for facility materials and University assets.
