Summary of Duties:
The incumbent will participate in projects in the Shaw lab using a multidisciplinary approach that integrates microbiology, immunology and entomology to study how and why vector-borne pathogens are harbored and transmitted by ticks. A major factor determining vector competence is the arthropod's immune system5-7. The incumbent will incorporate methodologies in molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics to uncover fundamental principles in tick immunology.

Required Qualifications:
A PhD in a relevant field is required, with preference for trainees that have experience in molecular biology, microbiology and cell culture. No prior experience in tick biology is required.
