Job Description Summary:
An adjunct instructor is needed to teach an Introduction to Speech Pathology course, a 2-credit hour a week course. The course focuses on social aspects of communication disorders, including a broad overview of human communication with emphasis on development, adult functions, cultural differences and disorders.


  • Instructional preparation

  • Assessment of student performance

  • Ensure students are aware of the competencies and expectations necessary for all objectives in the syllabi.

  • Design and carry out a lesson plan for each class taught that recognizes students' abilities, learning styles

  • Provide accommodations for individual student differences

  • Identify at-risk students and advise accordingly

    Southwestern Michigan College is a two-year college located approximately 45 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana, and approximately 45 minutes from Lake Michigan's eastern shore.

    Required Qualifications:
    - Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
    - Minimum of two years documented work in Speech Pathology.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - Experience in education, developing and promoting student success.
    - Experience in individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning.

    Other Information:
    All applicants must demonstrate the ability to promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students. Excellent organization and communication skills, as well as the demonstrated use of instructional technology, are required.
