Primary Purpose:
Established in 1851, University of the Pacific, the oldest chartered university in the state of California, is seeking a full time Assistant Director of Admission with an expertise in writing, designing and executing electronic and print marketing campaigns. The Assistant Director of Admission for E-Communications & Marketing reports to the Associate Director of Admission for Operations and Data Analysis.

Essential Functions:
1. In the Office of Admission, coordinates and executes all communication strategies for prospective students, applicants and families.

2. Using the Office of Admission webpages as a marketing and engagement tool, creates and oversees the update to the pages on a regular basis to reflect current information.

3. Using a variety of communication channels, to include, CRM, direct mail, and print media, develops a yearly plan for communications.

4. Collaborates with outside vendors on proof reading and coordinating of marketing messages. This includes writing and designing ad space in several publication, including, Private Colleges and Universities and Colleges of Distinction.

5. Creates, writes and oversees the deployment of email campaign templates within the CRM for various departments to use in engaging prospective students and families.

6. Creates, writes and edits copy for all print and digital marketing campaigns.

7. Understands the academic enterprise of the campus and captures student input related to the effectiveness of outreach and marketing content-related activities.

8. Makes suggestions and implements change to the prospective student experience, including the development of engaging PowerPoints.

9. Makes independent decisions and implements any adjustments to electronic communication.

10. Recruits students, in an assigned territory.

11. Other duties as designed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, English, marketing, or related field.
  • Two (2) years work experience in the coordination of communication and marketing plans & e-communications.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, tracking costs and reporting on results.
  • Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships with faculty, administration, third party vendors and colleagues.
  • Must be highly organized with exceptional time management skills.
  • Independently make and take responsibility for decisions without consulting supervisors.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license is required.
  • Knowledgeable of University of the Pacific.
  • Experience working with an Office of Admission at a university or similar higher education setting.
  • Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target audiences.
  • Ability to implement and advise on effective and creative integrated marketing communications plans and implement successful marketing tactics.
  • Experience sending email blasts within a CRM.
  • Ability to create and design email campaigns and templates containing HTML.
  • Graphic design experience for print and web marketing; experience with design software and adobe suite.
  • Excellent copy writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines with a quality, error-free product or result.
  • Strong ability to efficiently express ideas and concepts concisely to a broad range of audiences who possess varying degrees of conceptual understanding.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on exceptional follow-through.
  • Must work effectively in a fast-paced environment, comfortably managing multiple priorities while maintaining adherence to deadlines.
  • Must be resourceful with strong initiative and self-starter skills; be a committed team player; and must possess a goal-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supervising and training subordinates and colleagues.
  • Computer proficient: preferred experience using Salesforce, OnBase, and Banner

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
    Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Work performed during standard business hours. Must be available to work some evening and weekend hours as needed to meet deadlines.

    Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

    Hiring Range: Min $18.81 per hour to Mid $25.30 per hour, non-exempt
