Duties and Responsibilities Primarily responsible for the recruitment of traditional and non-traditional students to Fairmont State University. The position requires extensive travel to college and career fairs both in and out of state, public speaking, and providing follow-up assistance to prospective students and families. Works in all aspects of managing the enrollment of all students at Fairmont State University; visits high schools, vocational schools, and community colleges to recruit new students; counsels students and families about academic programs, admissions requirements and procedures, financial aid application process, career goals and course selection; represents Fairmont State University by participating in on and off-campus recruiting events and workshops; assists in implementation of a strategic recruitment plan to increase student enrollment; maintains contact with high school guidance counselors; makes all necessary arrangements to facilitate travel and meet job obligations; coordinates campus visits for various individuals and groups including high school students, parents, middle school and elementary school students; provides input for revisions of departmental brochures and informational/recruiting materials; maintains a thorough knowledge of all academic programs and philosophies in addition to student, faculty and administrative functions; operates a personal computer for data entry and retrieval. Frequent travel; frequent evening and weekend hours required.

Minimum Required Education Bachelor's Degree

Type and Amount of Experience Needed Personable with strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to travel frequently. Ability to carry and transport informational materials to various off-campus recruiting locations. Must possess valid driver's license and pass extensive background check. Must be able to create and maintain a partnership with faculty, staff and administration. Requires a passion for working with students. Ability to handle rapidly changing deadlines and goals. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Special Conditions One year term with the possibility for contract renewal after the first year.
