SERVICES ASSISTANT C
Duties: Maintains cleanliness of 10,000 square foot house that includes private residential and public events space at a consistently high level. Responsibilities include changing, laundering and ironing linens, table coverings , and clothing of residents and overnight guests; cleaning, vacuuming and dusting all bedrooms, living spaces, and bathrooms as needed or directed; cleaning the kitchen and all appliances; cleaning marble and wood floors; cleaning fireplaces; polishing silver and brass equipment and household items; assisting in inventorying cleaning and maintenance supplies and other household items; removing trash; assisting with preparation for travel, including packing and unpacking clothing and assembling toiletries. S/he will assist in overseeing the work of vendors and tradespeople (internal and external) undertaking general house maintenance projects as directed by the House Manger. The incumbent will, under the direction of the House Manager and/or Special Events staff, assist with preparations for meals and events hosted at the house, including set-up and removal of place settings, tables, chairs, and other items and furniture. S/he will also make and accept deliveries and greet and receive guests, as needed. S/he will answer telephones and take messages in the absence of the House Manager. In addition, the incumbent will shop for and put away groceries or household supplies, and run errands to and from other campus buildings as directed. S/he will also serve as the back-up for the House Manager for routine household matters and tasks. The incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted, be able to walk moderate distances, and stand and walk up and down stairs frequently as part of his or her routine workday.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED and 2 years to 3 years of experience in housekeeping and/or hospitality or related industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; driver's license preferred. Ability to manage household duties. Dependability and ability to work flexible hours mandatory; some evening nights and weekend work required. Good oral and written communications skills. Ability to work under limited supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Requires significant amount of standing, bending and walking. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. unaided.
