Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee TAMU-SA collections process.
  • Management of delinquent student accounts following federal and university guidelines.
  • Coordinate pre-collection projects for business services representatives.
  • Refer delinquent accounts to the collection agencies. Communicate to collection agencies payments applied to delinquent accounts. Request delinquent accounts from collection agencies for account write-off. Calculate proper payment of principal, interest, and collection fees when payments are received for past due accounts. Request collection fee payments to collection agencies for payments received on delinquent accounts assigned to agency.
  • Place Title IV debt holds on student accounts for financial aid students who incur Title IV debt. Process holds on student accounts for any past due student balance. Run periodic processes to clear holds for accounts paid in full.
  • Responsible for placement of delinquent account State Holds in FAMIS as well as Banner, and updating hold amounts as needed in FAMIS.
  • Prepare reports of credit balances on student accounts and enters eligible refunds into Banner. Review next day reports and voids any refunds no longer eligible to the student.
  • Prepare e-bills for current term and past due student accounts.
  • Prepare monthly debt aging reports and analyzes aged student accounts to prepare reports of student accounts that will be submitted to the Director of Accounting for requests to write off.
  • Provide Director of Student Business Services with student debt data for state and annual reporting.
  • Process and reconcile returned check.
  • Open and close the office and prepare or validate the daily deposits on rotating schedule. Handle returned mail.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in applicable field and two years of related experience in collection of accounts receivables and experience working with collections agencies.

KSAs
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong typing, data entry, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service.
