Posting Summary:
The Contemplative Sciences Center at the University of Virginia, is seeking qualified applicants for Contemplative Instructors. These are part-time, wage positions with the primary purpose of directly leading group classes and/or group-training workshops/seminars to meet the contemplative interests and demands of the University community (students, faculty, staff and UVa affiliates).

Experience and skills could include teaching one or more kinds of contemplative class or workshop formats including, but not limited to different styles of yoga, mindfulness, various forms of meditation, creative movement, T'ai Chi, etc.

We are seeking instructors with the ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote mind/body wellness including identifying the need for and modifying movements for participant safety. Ideal candidates will have the availability to teach at least 1-3 classes per week and/or 1 or more group-training workshops/seminars per semester. Instructors are expected to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.

Instructors are expected to establish a positive rapport and relationship with student and departmental staff, members and guests of the facility as well as promote exceptional customer service to create a positive environment for members and guests. Instructors are also expected to maintain a Standard of Excellence in professionalism and safety.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and skill as practitioner in specialized contemplative method of instruction, techniques or practice
Ability to teach, motivate and engage class participants in training sessions
Ability to listen attentively and determine participants goals
Ability to assess participants level of fitness as applicable
Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
