Job Summary

The Director of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Database Operations leads the College's ERP operational support and database management group. The position enforces and enhances configuration management and data governance policies and procedures, in addition to leading and setting the standards for availability, security and performance for both current and next generation data services at the College. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads ERP Operation teams
  • Manages IT Outsourced ERP operation resources and services
  • Leads the maintenance, management and lifecycle of database instances
  • Partners with other IT units to understand critical issues and develops and implements sustainable solutions
  • Defines and executes on system architectures to integrate enterprise systems and data
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to define and integrate data management policies
  • Leads the development of end to end architecture (data, middleware, and applications) for enterprise data-centric initiatives
  • Ensures adherence to architecture principles (performance , agility , reuse, etc.) and conceptual completeness of the technical solutions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or a related field and five (5) years of progressive experience, including experience in a supervisory role managing database function and staff; or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or a related field and nine (9) years of progressive experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and
  • Procedures
  • Strong knowledge of database technologies
  • Knowledge of ERP systems support in a large organization
  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and implementations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to ensure completion of department initiatives and recommendations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to apply effective leadership skills to direct technical staff
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, IT personnel and District organizations
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of current techniques in ETL and database tuning tools
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students , faculty and staff

  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the College.
