Medical Physicist Position

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina (Wake County and vicinity)
Applicants are invited to apply for a newly open medical physicist position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center. This position will join the Physics Team at Duke Cancer Center Wake County to primarily provide all aspects of clinical physics support for the radiation therapy facilities in Wake County and vicinity.The three facilities at Duke Cancer Center Wake County are within 30 minutes from the Duke main campus and 10-20 minutes from each other. Equipment includes 4 modern linear accelerators, all with OBI/CBCT for IGRT and gated treatment, 3 CT simulators, Brain Lab SRS system,1 HDR unit,networked ARIA information system and Eclipse treatment planning system across the Duke Health System. Special procedures will include SRS, SBRT, IMRT/IGRT, and HDR brachy therapy. In addition to clinical coverage, the division of radiation physics also provides physics teaching for graduate students in medical physics, both medical physics and radiation oncology residents,and medical students from Duke medical school. Active research programs mainly involve IMRT/IGRT,3D dosimetry, oncologic and biological imaging, modeling of radiation damage for normal tissues and of tumor control using radiation, advanced MR imaging, stereo tactic radiosurgery, and stereo tactic body radiotherapy.
The successful candidate for the Medical Physicist position will involve a full range of physics activities in the radiation oncology department. Preference will be given to individuals with Ph.D. and extensive clinical and development research experience (Board certification or eligibility is required).
